Daniel Horn | Let’s make a pact – A testers perspective on API-Contracts
APIs have long been the lifeline of modern software products. But how can teams ensure that producers and consumers really speak the same language? Contract testing offers an exciting approach that actively involves testers while at the same time improving collaboration between development teams.
In this talk, Daniel highlights the difference between consumer-driven contracts and producer-driven contracts and explains why this topic is highly relevant for testers. It’s not just about theory: using practical scenarios, he demonstrates how Pact can be used to secure API interactions early, simplify integration tests, and shorten feedback cycles.
In addition to advantages such as higher test stability and less “integration hell,” Daniel also openly addresses challenges — from tooling integration to team communication and organizational pitfalls. The goal is to provide a realistic insight into how contract testing can be successfully introduced and applied as a quality assurance measure.
This talk is aimed at everyone who works with APIs or needs to ensure their quality: testers, developers, QA engineers, product owners, and architects.
