Veronika Ilina | Trust Issues at Work: Why QA Can’t Deliver Quality Without Trust
When reporting a bug, how often do people feel they have to fight for it to be fixed? Have they ever had moments when, instead of discussing root causes and solutions, people start bargaining with quality assurance (QA) about how to fix less and faster? Or the feeling that they are surrounded not by a development team, but by people who are defending themselves?
All of these are trust issues.
Trust consists of three components:
competence (the skills that allow someone to actually get things done in QA),
integrity (the ability to act consistently on commitments),
benevolence (showing genuine goodwill by taking others’ perspectives, constraints, and concerns into account).
The speaker, Veronika, shows that all three components can—and should - be intentionally developed. Drawing on real cases from over 10 years of experience building trust between tech teams, she shares practical frameworks for strengthening trust and repairing it at the interpersonal, team, and organizational levels.
Attendees will leave this talk with an updated understanding of how to create an environment where teams can rely on each other and deliver better products -instead of fighting unnecessary battles.
