Luis Filipe Alves Dias | 10X Performance: The QA Expert’s Playbook

QA, Management, Performance

In this presentation, Luis Filipe Alves Dias explores the essential principles that differentiate an average quality assurance (QA) professional from a truly outstanding one. Through the framework of the “10 Commandments,” he outlines the technical, analytical, and behavioral competencies required to stand out in today’s competitive QA landscape.

The session begins by challenging professionals to rethink what differentiation truly means, emphasizing that exceptional results require uncommon actions. It then dives into key areas such as technical expertise beyond traditional testing, deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software testing lifecycle (STLC), and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Particular attention is given to adopting a solution-oriented mindset rather than merely identifying problems.

The presentation further highlights mastery of test design, continuous learning, adaptability to new technologies, and the importance of effective communication and collaboration. It stresses the value of constructive feedback, business awareness, and understanding how QA contributes to broader organizational goals. Additionally, it addresses the growing importance of programming, automation, and scripting skills, encouraging QA professionals to actively participate in technical discussions and automation strategies.

Finally, Luis Filipe Alves Dias reinforces the importance of proactivity, ownership of one’s career, and intentional skill specialization. The session concludes with the idea that differentiation is not a one-time achievement but a consistent, daily commitment to growth, excellence, and professional impact.
